Description

Undercurrents is an immersive art installation that transforms the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern into a chamber of sound, light, and memory. This installation explores how communication travels across time, space, and human relationships.

The Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern is a former city drinking water reservoir built in 1926 and restored by Buffalo Bayou Partnership. Spanning 87,500 square feet, it now functions as a public space hosting tours, performances, and art exhibits.

Dates on view: April 24, 2026 – January 24, 2027.

Note: This experience is recommended for ages 9 and older.

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time for parking and check-in at the Visitor Center, located at 105-B Sabine St., Houston, TX 77007.
  • Doors close promptly at the tour start time.
  • Limited free parking is available adjacent to the Cistern on Sabine Street.
  • Additional parking can be found at City Lot H, 1643 Memorial Drive, east of Fonde Recreation Center.
