UH Wellness
Houston
At a glance
UH Wellness is a University of Houston campus resource focused on helping Coogs build healthier lives while living, learning, and working on campus. Based at 4500 University Dr in Houston, the program brings together education, practical resources, and wellness activities rather than operating as a dining or entertainment venue.
The program covers several areas of wellbeing, including mental health, sexual health, substance-use education, healthy eating, physical activity, and general wellness. Its resources are designed to support informed decisions and everyday habits, with options that range from educational materials to interactive programs and requested services.
Mental health programming includes Wellness Wednesdays, a recurring series held during the fall and spring semesters. These free events offer relaxation-focused activities such as chair massages, therapy pets, do-it-yourself projects, and other opportunities for a pause between campus commitments. Relaxation Station, Mental Health First Aid, and CoogsCARE add further avenues for mental health and community support.
UH Wellness also offers sexual health resources and testing opportunities, along with information related to alcohol and other drugs, tobacco, and substance-use disorders. Educational initiatives include Step UP! Bystander Intervention, which uses interactive practice to build confidence in responding to real-life situations. The program also participates in broader public health education, including National Public Health Week.
Peer involvement is a central part of the program. Cougar Peer Educators, wellness influencers, interns, and the Healthy U community help extend wellness conversations across campus. Peer-led engagement gives students a way to share information and encourage healthier choices among fellow Coogs.
The overall atmosphere is educational, supportive, and campus-centered. UH Wellness suits students looking for accessible wellness information, low-key relaxation activities, peer connection, or guidance on specific health topics. It also accommodates campus groups and departments seeking a wellness service or educational program through the service request process. With its mix of recurring events, health education, prevention resources, and community care, the program provides several entry points for campus wellbeing.
